According to Decrypt, South Korean actress Hwang Jung-eum was sentenced to two years of probation on Thursday in Jeju District Court for embezzling $3 million (43.4 billion KRW) from her personal agency to invest in cryptocurrency. This means that as long as she does not commit another crime in the next four years, she will not have to serve a prison sentence.
Prosecutors had previously requested a three-year prison sentence in August, but the judge decided to grant probation considering that she had repaid the full amount and the fact that this was her first offense and she had fully compensated the victim.
