Senate Republican Leader McConnell: Will Vote Wednesday on Reopening Government

BlockBeats News, October 1st, Senate Republican Leader McConnell stated that the Senate will vote on Wednesday on a bill to reopen the federal government. He expressed optimism that more Democrats’ support could break the appropriations deadlock.

McConnell said in a TV interview, “Tonight when we vote, we got three (Democratic) votes.” He added that Republicans hope to get more votes in the next round of voting. “Ultimately, we will have enough votes in the Senate to pass the bill and keep the government running.” McConnell blamed the ongoing government shutdown on the Democratic leadership, accusing Senate Minority Leader, New York Democrat Chuck Schumer, of catering to progressive members. “None of this is necessary,” McConnell said. “They do so only to appease the left-wing base and Schumer’s fears.” (Golden Finance)
