Atkins said he believes that the U.S. may already be “about ten years behind” in cryptocurrency. He stated: “The cryptocurrency area is our top priority.”

Atkins pointed out that the SEC aims to “establish a robust framework to bring back those who may have already left the U.S.” The agency hopes that this framework will foster innovation.
