BlockBeats News, December 4th — Mario Nawfal, founder and CEO of Dubai-based venture capital firm IBC Group, shared on social media that “When I was chatting with SBF about FTX going bankrupt (interview coming soon), he shared an unexpected story with me. SBF’s former inmate, former President of Honduras Juan Orlando Hernández, has just been pardoned by Trump. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison in the US last June for drug trafficking and illegal gun possession.”
SBF stated: “I lived in the same cell block with Juan Orlando for a year and a half. I know him quite well. I am willing to believe we became friends. I can’t think of any inmate more deserving of a pardon; he was framed.”
SBF spent a lot of time helping Hernández prepare for trial and reviewing the related evidence. SBF said: “Not only is he not a drug lord, he may be the most effective anti-drug cartel leader in the world. Juan Orlando is the most innocent prisoner I have ever met, including myself.” The pardon came a few days before Honduras’ November 30th election, with Trump endorsing Nasry Asfura, the National Party candidate to which Hernández belongs.”
