BlockBeats News, February 19th: The number of initial jobless claims in the United States saw the largest drop since November last year, further indicating a stabilizing labor market. According to data released by the Labor Department on Thursday, for the week ending February 14th, the number of initial jobless claims decreased by 23,000 to 206,000, a figure that was below nearly all forecasts in surveys.
This indicates that layoffs remain generally low, and those who were temporarily unable to work due to the severe winter storms at the end of January have returned to work. However, the number of continuing jobless claims rose to 1.87 million last week, the highest level since early January. (FXStreet)
