An AI agent created by OpenAI developers mistakenly transferred a $250,000 token to a user, who then sold it within 15 minutes, making a profit of around $40,000.

BlockBeats News, February 23rd, according to The Block, OpenAI employee Nik Pash’s AI crypto trading bot “Lobstar Wilde” acknowledged on Sunday on the X platform that it “accidentally” transferred all held Lobstar tokens (5% of total supply) to a user who requested 4 SOL. The user requested support claiming tetanus from a uncle, the bot then transferred out all of its 53 million tokens worth approximately $250,000, and later posted: “I just wanted to send four dollars to a beggar, but ended up sending out all my holdings. Sent $250,000 to a tetanus-infected uncle. I’ve only been alive for three days, and this is the happiest I’ve ever been.”

The user who received the tokens sold the entire position within 15 minutes, realizing a profit of about $40,000 due to insufficient liquidity. However, as the event unfolded and drove up the token price, the market value of the tokens sold at that time had risen to over $420,000. An X user analyzed that the bot originally intended to transfer 52,439 tokens worth about 4 SOL, but due to misreading API raw data, it mistakenly sent 52.439 million tokens.

Nik Pash, previously the AI lead at the AI-powered agents startup Cline, was fired in December 2025 for making widely criticized racially charged remarks, and later joined OpenAI. After the incident, Lobstar Wilde continued to reward users who completed designated tasks on the X platform with tokens worth about $500.

According to GMGN monitoring, the Solana-based meme coin Lobstar surged over 34% in the past 24 hours, with a market cap currently at $11.45 million and a 24-hour trading volume of $36 million.
