A cryptocurrency company employee in Hong Kong was arrested for allegedly stealing 2.67 million USDT from customers

BlockBeats News, on February 24, the Hong Kong police arrested an employee of a cryptocurrency exchange who is suspected of stealing approximately 2.67 million USDT from about 20 customers, worth about 20.87 million Hong Kong dollars. The arrested individual is a 34-year-old employee surnamed Cai, a network engineer at the company for 4 years, mainly responsible for managing the mobile application. Since early January this year, the company has been receiving reports from customers about fund losses. Upon investigation, it was found that this employee had accessed the company’s database and viewed the relevant customer accounts.

The incident took place at the south tower of Grandway Plaza on Science Museum Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. Currently, the case has been taken over by the Criminal Investigation Team of the Yau Tsim Mong Police District’s Ninth Division.
