BlockBeats News, March 12, the Trump administration on Wednesday launched a new round of 301 trade investigations into industrial overcapacity with 16 major trading partners, aiming to reimpose tariff pressure. The US Supreme Court overturned the core of Trump’s global tariff plan last month. US Trade Representative Gruel said the investigation targets some of the United States’ largest trading partners, such as the EU, India, Japan, and South Korea, among 16 trading partners. However, Canada was not included in the investigation.
It is reported that the Trump administration also plans to launch another separate investigation as early as Thursday, involving a ban on the import of goods produced using forced labor, which is expected to cover at least 60 countries. Gruel stated that more investigations will be launched in the future. He did not specify which industries or countries may be affected but suggested that the investigations may focus on some countries’ digital services taxes, drug pricing, and other trade issues.
