Luckey said that what Trump is doing now — whether in Venezuela or Iran — is a new form of warfare, “I don’t think the U.S. is now prepared to fight a war on the scale of, say, World War II, even for a just cause, let alone for reasons where there is a lack of consensus. I don’t think we are capable anymore of another Normandy invasion, and that is actually a problem. This means that even in a very important battle, we may not show up. But that is also one of the reasons I have been saying all along: America probably needs to transition from being the ‘world police’ to the ‘world arms dealer.’“
