BlockBeats News, March 17th. According to the South Korean media NewDaily, the Financial Supervisory Service (금감원) and the Korea Customs Service (관세청), along with 9 domestic credit card companies and the Credit Finance Association, have officially signed a “Cross-Border Crime Fund Interception Joint Civil-Government Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU),” aiming to cut off channels used for illegal foreign exchange and overseas fund transfers through the use of cryptocurrency.
Under the agreement, the parties will integrate overseas credit and debit card usage records with entry and exit data, conduct linked analysis to identify and intercept voice phishing and cryptocurrency crime-related abnormal transactions. Previously, the Customs Service and each card company held information independently, leading to significant limitations in identifying abnormal transactions. The Credit Finance Association will serve as an intermediary coordination hub for information sharing and will regularly operate a practical agreement mechanism.
