Trump White House Press Conference Summary: Iran’s 10 stripes not good enough but important, should be collected by the US at the Strait of Hormuz

BlockBeats News, April 7th, Beijing Time Today (April 7th), early this morning, U.S. President Trump held a press conference at the White House. During the meeting, Trump clearly outlined the consequences Iran would face if they fail to reach an agreement by the deadline he set.

Trump said, “We must reach an agreement that I can accept, and part of that agreement will include: We demand that oil and all materials be allowed to pass freely,” and the U.S. military could destroy Iranian bridges and power plants within 4 hours. Although attacking civilian infrastructure is prohibited by the Geneva Conventions, Trump said he is “not at all” concerned about committing war crimes. “An entire country can be destroyed overnight, and that night could be tomorrow night,” he said at Monday’s White House press conference. He stated that Tehran’s counterproposal was “not good enough” for a ceasefire, even though he called it “an important step.”

In addition, Trump raised the idea of the U.S. charging fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz: “I would rather have the U.S. charge a fee in the Strait of Hormuz than let Iran do it.”

Regarding the details of the negotiations, Trump said Vice President Pence was involved in the discussions, “I can tell you, on the other side, we have a positive, willing negotiating partner. They are negotiating, we believe in good faith—we will know soon.”

Trump threatened to imprison reporters who disclosed details of the bold U.S. military rescue of two pilots, accusing them of jeopardizing the mission. Finally, he also lamented that he would love to have Iran’s oil for himself, but the American public wants the conflict to end before that.
