Analysis: After Iran’s Epic “Bitcoin Enhancement,” 4000 BTC Expected During Ceasefire

BlockBeats News, April 8th, today Iran forcefully “empowered” Bitcoin through the Strait of Hormuz, requesting shipping companies to pay a Bitcoin-denominated transit fee for oil tankers passing through the strait during a two-week ceasefire, with a fee of $1 per barrel of oil, and empty oil tankers can pass through for free. “Once the email arrives and Iran completes the assessment, the ship will have a few seconds to pay in Bitcoin, ensuring that it cannot be traced or confiscated due to sanctions.”

According to a authoritative source from the International Energy Agency (IEA), if the Hormuz flow returns to normal during the ceasefire period, about 20 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products are estimated to pass through each day, Iran will receive 20 million US dollars in Bitcoin, totaling an estimated 280 million US dollars in Bitcoin during the two-week ceasefire period, equivalent to approximately 4,000 coins at the current price.

BlockBeats noted that the analysis is only a theoretical calculation based on normal weekday traffic. The actual amount may differ due to exemptions for empty oil tankers, enforcement issues, or significant traffic reduction due to current geopolitical factors. In addition, the implementation of the Bitcoin transit fee scheme remains to be seen.
