CertiK Co-Founder Ronghui Gu Featured at KBW Main Forum: Deepening Collaboration, Sharing Insights, and Expanding Presence in Korea

BlockBeats News, September 23rd. At the Korea Blockchain Week (KBW) main forum, CertiK co-founder and CEO Professor Ronghui Gu participated in a panel discussion titled “Stop the Hacks: The State of Smart Contract Security,” sharing insights on Web3 security trends and challenges.

Professor Gu mentioned that this was his third visit to Korea. CertiK has partnered with the city of Busan at the governmental level and established a branch in Seoul, continuing to expand its presence in the Korean market. During the event, he particularly clarified a common misunderstanding in the industry regarding the “Annual Web3 Security Report,” which claimed that “$1.4 billion was lost last year due to smart contract vulnerabilities,” emphasizing that the figure included various factors such as human error.

He highlighted that no program is absolutely secure. CertiK has built a multi-layered defense system covering code review, auditing, and continuous monitoring to address evolving threats. However, he noted that the current industry’s security budget is generally insufficient, significantly lower than marketing expenses. Using examples such as WEMIX undergoing over 120 audits and Kaia selecting CertiK as its exclusive security partner, he urged project teams to prioritize security investment.
