Coinbase Responds to Prediction Market Notification Spam: Targeted Notifications Bug Identified, Seeking Customer Preference Balance Point

BlockBeats News, March 29th, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong responded to the platform’s frequent push notification of prediction market, saying: It appears that there was a bug in targeted push notifications, which has now been fixed. As for the appropriateness of the push content—prediction markets are indeed welcomed by some customers, but not everyone enjoys them, and of course, we do not want to force anyone to accept them. I believe a better solution is to allow customers to customize their experience based on their preferences rather than imposing a blanket ban on a certain type of content.

As a “universal exchange platform,” Coinbase aims to offer all legal assets that meet network security standards for users to trade—however, at any given time, each customer may only be interested in trading 1% or even less of the content, and that’s completely fine. Therefore, Coinbase needs to find the right balance between “not imposing unwanted things on people” and “ensuring that what they want is readily available.” This time, it is clear that we did not strike the right balance—this will be taken as an opportunity for improvement.
