Epstein had been interested in Bitcoin since 2011 and had discussed the essence of Bitcoin with Peter Thiel.

BlockBeats News, February 3rd, according to the latest publicly available information, as early as 2011, Epstein was already into Bitcoin. Epstein expressed in an email on June 12, 2011, that “Bitcoin is a brilliant idea, but it also has some serious flaws.”

In 2013, Epstein also discussed Bitcoin with Bill Gates’s former Chief Technology Officer Boris Nikolic and Steven Sinofsky, a16z Board Partner and former President of the Microsoft Windows Division. Even in 2014, Epstein had in-depth discussions with PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel about the nature of Bitcoin. In the email, Epstein stated, “There is no consensus on what Bitcoin is, whether it is a store of value, a currency, or property… just as a man dressed as a woman, or property disguised as currency.”

Furthermore, in 2016, Epstein expressed in emails with Raafat AlSabbagh, an advisor to the Saudi Royal Court, and Aziza Al Ahmadi, now an advisor to the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, that “I have communicated with some Bitcoin creators, and they are very excited.”

It is worth noting that documents released last December showed that Epstein’s $850,000 donation to MIT indirectly supported a digital currency initiative that hired Bitcoin Core developers like Gavin Andresen and Wladimir van der Laan when the Bitcoin Foundation collapsed in 2015.
