Ethereum Ecosystem Developer Releases ‘Native Rollups’ Concept Validation Prototype

BlockBeats News, March 11th, Ethereum ecosystem developers released a “Native Rollups” concept validation prototype, achieving Ethereum’s direct on-chain validation of Layer 2 state transitions without relying on external verification systems such as zero-knowledge proofs or fraud proofs. This solution introduces the EXECUTE precompile mechanism through EIP-8079 to replay Layer 2 blocks on the Ethereum mainnet to confirm their validity. The participating teams include Ethrex client developers, Ethereum Foundation contributors, and L2BEAT researchers.

Developers stated that this design enables Layer 2 networks to inherit Ethereum’s security properties and protocol upgrades directly, simplifying long-term maintenance costs. Currently, this solution is still in the early exploration phase and has not yet entered a production environment.
