Hong Kong Police Force and Customs and Excise Department Establish Virtual Asset Intelligence Task Force

According to Radio Television Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Police Force announced the establishment of the “Virtual Asset Intelligence Collaboration Task Force” together with the Customs and Excise Department, financial regulatory agencies, and licensed virtual asset services providers. The task force aims to enhance the public-private collaboration network through intelligence sharing and cooperation mechanisms to improve the response capabilities to virtual asset crimes and related cybersecurity threats. During the inauguration ceremony, Hong Kong Police Force Commissioner Chris Tang revealed that there were a total of 1463 virtual asset-related cases in the first 8 months of this year. Although the number of cases decreased by 16% compared to the previous year, the total loss involved amounted to 2.27 billion Hong Kong dollars, a 5% increase from the same period last year.
