Mitsubishi UFJ Launches Digital Asset Business, Unveils Personal Secure Token Trading Platform 「ASTOMO」

According to CoinDesk, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and its subsidiary Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities announced on October 9th the official launch of a blockchain-based digital asset business. As part of this strategy, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan has started processing bond-like security tokens (ST) and has partnered with the fintech company Smart Plus to launch a security token trading service “ASTOMO” targeting individual investors.

The platform will initially offer real estate security token trading, supporting users to make small investments starting from a minimum of 100,000 yen through a smartphone app. At the same time, Mitsubishi UFJ also announced its readiness to issue subordinated bonds in the form of security tokens, marking the first such attempt in the Japanese banking sector.
