According to Trend News monitoring, on December 9th, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis today posted on his two social media accounts (@GovRonDeSantis and @RonDeSantis) with a total of 8.7 million followers, telling the story of a small dog rescued in a South Florida immigration enforcement operation.

The dog had previously suffered abuse, malnutrition, and abandonment, and was rescued by the Florida Highway Patrol during the operation. It was later adopted by the state’s Director of Immigration Enforcement and named “ICE” (in reference to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency). In the photo, it is a small white and brown-spotted dog wearing a green collar.

The tweet quickly gained attention, currently receiving over 2,000 likes and over 200 retweets. It was also retweeted by a journalist with 1.8 million followers (x: @LauraLoomer).
