BlockBeats News, September 30th, OpenAI will allow ChatGPT users to directly shop through its popular AI chatbot without leaving the platform. The company stated on Monday that U.S. users will be able to purchase products from local Etsy sellers and some Shopify merchants within ChatGPT.
This service is called “Instant Checkout” and currently only supports the purchase of single items. OpenAI also released an open-source technical standard called the “Agentic Commerce Protocol” for merchants to integrate their products with ChatGPT, enabling them to sell directly within the chatbot.
The company hopes to attract more merchants to join the ChatGPT platform. However, OpenAI stated that the two major U.S. digital retailers, Amazon and Walmart, have not yet adopted this protocol. (Jinse)
