BlockBeats News, March 5th. According to TheInformation, as of the end of February 2026, OpenAI’s annualized revenue has exceeded $25 billion.
OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar had previously confirmed in the company’s official blog in January 2026 and in multiple reports that the company’s 2025 annualized revenue had surpassed $20 billion, representing a growth of around 230% from 2064’s $6 billion. However, some subsequent public investor information indicates that OpenAI’s actual full-year revenue in 2025 was around $13 billion, surpassing the company’s early $10 billion target but falling short of the peak annualized estimate of $20 billion. After a rapid growth period in 2025, OpenAI experienced a slowdown in the second half of the year. Media outlets such as CNBC estimate that its mid-year annualized revenue was around $10 to $13 billion, and its year-end annualized revenue was around $5.5 billion.
In contrast, OpenAI’s direct competitor, Anthropic, had an annualized revenue of around $4 billion in the middle of 2025, which rapidly increased to around $9 billion by the end of the year, benefiting from enterprise clients and products like Claude Code. As of early March this year, Anthropic’s latest annualized revenue has exceeded $19 billion. The current Claude Code run rate has exceeded $2.5 billion and has attracted over 500 customers spending over $1 million annually. The gap between Anthropic and OpenAI is narrowing.
