Polymarket Founder Becomes the Youngest Self-Made Billionaire to be Tracked by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index

BlockBeats News, October 9th, according to Bloomberg, Shayne Coplan, the 27-year-old founder of the prediction market platform Polymarket, has become one of the youngest self-made billionaires tracked by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a pre-funding valuation of $8 billion after receiving a record $2 billion investment from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange.

Coplan had previously sold apartment items to pay rent due to financial constraints. In 2019, inspired by economist Robin Hanson’s prediction market theory, he started building Polymarket in his own bathroom and officially launched it in June 2020. Despite early regulatory restrictions on the unregistered exchange and even an FBI raid, Polymarket has thrived with the booming growth of prediction markets, attracting Wall Street giants.

A Polymarket spokesperson declined to comment on this.
