Russian CEX Grinex Suffers Cyber Attack, Loses Over $15 Million

BlockBeats News, April 17th, the cryptocurrency exchange Grinex, associated with the Russian crypto market, suspended withdrawals and trading on Thursday, citing a “large-scale cyberattack.” The exchange stated that over 1 billion rubles (about $13.1 million) were stolen, but blockchain analytics company Elliptic traced the actual loss to be around $15 million USDT. The stolen funds have been exchanged into TRX and ETH through the Tron and Ethereum networks to circumvent freezing.

Grinex is reportedly seen as the successor to the sanctioned Garantex exchange, which was targeted by US authorities last year for facilitating the illegal flow of hundreds of millions of dollars.
