Tether to Partner with the Lugano City Government in Switzerland to Commit 5 Million Swiss Francs to Advance the Plan ₿ Phase Two Project

BlockBeats News, March 3rd: Over the past four years, Tether has partnered with the Municipality of Lugano to drive over 400 local merchants to accept BTC and USDT payments through Plan ₿, embedding digital assets into daily business and promoting real-world adoption. With strategic and technical support from Tether, Lugano has also introduced digital bond issuance and supported municipal digital asset payments, integrating blockchain directly into public financial infrastructure rather than limiting it to private sector use.

Tether and the City of Lugano have jointly committed to invest 5 million Swiss Francs to advance the Plan ₿ Phase 2 plan, positioning Lugano as a global digital infrastructure hub. Between 2026 and 2030, Tether will provide infrastructure support to grant Lugano long-term digital sovereignty. Measures include building secure digital asset automation management infrastructure, developing Lugano as a hub for digital trade and commodity flows, advancing sovereign and privacy-preserving digital identity systems, promoting the local AI ecosystem and autonomous digital agents, and implementing distributed, modular, and resilient urban digital infrastructure to support the next generation of DeFi activities.
