The Firedancer team proposes to remove the Solana block limit, scheduled to occur after the Alpenglow upgrade.

BlockBeats News, September 29th: According to TheBlock, Jump Crypto’s Firedancer team has proposed lifting Solana’s computational limit, allowing blocks to scale based on validator performance. Their SIMD-0370 proposal suggests removing the current cap of 60 million compute units (CU) per block later this year after Solana’s major upgrade, Alpenglow (previously, there was a proposal to raise this limit to 100 million). This move aims to incentivize validators to upgrade their hardware, as validators running lower-performance hardware will automatically skip super-sized blocks.
