The Senate Strives to Finalize Cryptocurrency Market Bill Before Holiday Recess

BlockBeats News, December 11th, according to thehill report, senators are trying to resolve key differences in cryptocurrency industry regulation legislation in the final weeks of this year’s working days in an effort to move the bill out of committee after months of negotiations. Despite Democratic colleagues still seeking changes to the draft text and with legislators only days away from leaving town for the holidays, Republicans are still pushing for revisions to cryptocurrency market structure legislation next week.

An industry insider familiar with the market structure legislation process expressed, “Time is running out. I think realistically, we have about 48 hours to assess whether this bill will move forward next week.”

The primary advocate of cryptocurrency legislation, Senator Cynthia Lummis (Republican of Wyoming), said on Tuesday that her goal is to release an updated draft that she believes is “our best work so far” by the end of this weekend and to revise the bill next week. She said at the Blockchain Association policy summit, “I think we’ve reached the point now that it’s better to have a proposal, amend it next week, and then let everyone take a break and catch their breath during the Christmas holiday.”
