BlockBeats News, April 13th: There is a discrepancy in the description of Trump’s and the US Central Command’s statements regarding the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The US military’s official statement is more restrained, targeting only Iranian ports rather than the entire Strait of Hormuz.
Yesterday, Trump stated that the US Navy would block the Strait of Hormuz and intercept all ships paying tolls to Iran.
However, the US Central Command issued a notice stating that US Central Command forces will begin implementing a maritime traffic blockade of all inbound and outbound traffic to Iranian ports on April 13th at 10 a.m. Eastern Time (10 p.m. Beijing Time today). It will impartially apply to all national vessels entering and exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports in the Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Central Command forces will not impede the free passage of ships traveling to and from non-Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz.
