Local time in the United States, President Trump stated on Monday that if a peace agreement to end the war with Iran is not reached before the ceasefire ends, “it will not be a pleasant thing for them.” When asked by a reporter if his previous threat that “the whole civilization will be destroyed” still holds if the two-week ceasefire ends without an agreement, Trump responded, “I don’t want to comment on that, but it will not be a pleasant thing for them.”
Trump announced last week that he agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, but peace talks held in Pakistan over the weekend failed. Vice President Pence stated that Iran would not commit to giving up its nuclear weapons program.
