Vitalik: A Taxi is a form of Crypto Punk

BlockBeats News, September 26th, Ethereum founder Vitalik posted on the decentralized social media protocol Farcaster, stating that “A taxi is a form of cypherpunk. Users do not need to show any identification or even a phone number to anyone, nor do they need to install any proprietary applications to take a taxi, and they can even pay with cash.”

Cypherpunk is a concept that originated in the 1990s, combining cryptography and the punk spirit, advocating for the protection of individual privacy, freedom, and decentralization through technical means, and opposing government or institutional surveillance and control. In 1992, Tim May published the “Cypherpunk Manifesto,” pointing out that privacy needs to be actively pursued through technology, not relied on the law.
