Worldcoin development team TFH partners with Gap, Visa, Tinder to promote World ID human authentication product

BlockBeats News, February 27th, according to The Wall Street Journal, OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman’s Tools for Humanity (TFH) is partnering with Gap, Visa, and Tinder to promote the World ID human verification product (identity verification technology to distinguish humans from bots).

At a Gap store in San Francisco, visitors have already started to obtain World ID. The process involves installing its iconic volleyball-sized “Orb” device, used to capture facial and eye images. Meanwhile, a planned Visa payment card will allow World ID holders to spend digital assets, including Worldcoin—cryptocurrency that people receive as a reward for signing up in most markets. In addition, the dating app Tinder is testing the identity system in Japan to verify that users are real people and that their age matches their claim.

The company stated that its Orb device will convert an individual’s facial and iris images into an anonymous string of numbers and store it on the user’s own device, with Tools for Humanity itself not retaining this data. TFH Chief Business Officer Trevor Traina said the company hopes to generate revenue by charging applications—every time an app uses a user’s World ID to confirm their humanity, the company will charge a fee.
